Rogue builder prosecuted for mis-using NICEIC logo

A rogue builder, who falsely claimed to be NICEIC registered, faces a possible jail sentence after deceiving customers out of thousands of pounds. Umran Suleman, from Blackburn, pleaded guilty to 17 charges under trading standards regulations, some in his own name and some in the name of U & A Drylining Limited.

He was committed on bail to Preston Crown Court to be sentenced. District Judge Michael Hopkinson, who heard the case, said he had no doubt the offences merited a custodial sentence.

He said: "The public deserve protection from people like you.

Assembly motion supports electrical safety for private tenants

Commenting on the London Assembly’s unanimous motion for the Government to introduce mandatory, 5 yearly electrical safety checks in the private rented sector (PRS), Phil Buckle, Chief Executive of Electrical Safety First, said:

Leading industry awards are open for entries

Submission to independent review urges government to commit to new industry

Proposals to build a series of tidal lagoons in the UK have been firmly backed by the Electrical Contractors’ Association (ECA) in a submission to a government-commissioned review of the potential new renewable sector.

Within the ECA response to the Hendry Review, an independent analysis requested by the government earlier this year, the trade body said that tidal lagoons offered the ‘complete package’ of long lifespan, high flexibility, and very high energy predictability.
