Do I need a rewire?
I have just finished an estimate for a rewire local to me that I went to look at yesterday. The customer had another electrician in to supply a certificate on this property! As you can see they did the right thing and did not test the property and did a report as to why the house could not be tested, as after inspection it is obvious why!
As you can see from the picture I took this house is in need of a rewire. The whole house is wired in the old type rubber cables except for a couple of circuits that had been added a while ago.
Installing A Wall Light
Installing a new wall light to your house can give your home an added improvement and create a different ambiance that before. Before you begin, you are going to need a few things. You need a ceiling box, a fixture stud, an extension nipple, a standard nipple and a strap. Some of the common tools you’re going to need are screwdrivers, nails, screws and a drill. You might also need a pair of standard pliers and needle nose pliers.
Wilts, my new electrical wholesaler
One of our jobs this week was a little out of our normal area and when we got to the job there were extras! Of course much the norm for most of us I guess! Unfortunately we did not have the parts on the van. Luckily there was a business park just down the road so we shot down there and found there was an electrical wholesaler called Wilts electrical.

02/02/10 Electrical help guide - My ceiling light is not working ? All my lights have gone off ?
My customers always phone me with the same problems , so I've decided to provide help guides and add to my blogs , see what you experts think
If you have switched your light on and it does not work , it is either a problem with the circuit or the lamp / bulb . When it is more than one light that has been affected it may be the circuit . For just the one llight , its more likely to be the lamp .

Good for Synaptica, but bad for my competition...
Well, both lady electricians performed EXACTLY as I expected them to: diligently, enthusiastically, punctually, professionally. Both were excellent with the customers and were a pleasure to work with.
What I can't believe is how they've been treated by both previous employers and tradesmen in the 21st Century, just for being female tradespersons. It's really made my blood boil. Let me list what they've had to endure (as told to me by Ina and Clare, completely independently of each other):

Building the Synaptica Team
Very exciting times (for me & Synaptica (http://www.electricianbishopsstortford.co.uk/) at least)!
I have found 2 lady electricians to whom I can confidently subcontract work. They are both highly skilled, experienced, diligent, and reliable.
Can't wait to see the faces of the lads in the wholesalers on both sides of the counter when Ina & Clare come in to collect materials!
