The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) have been delayed in publishing its response following an influx of more than 250 comments during its consultation period, which ended in June.
It was expected that government would release a response during mid August, however following the volume of comments received, a formal response is now expected to be published this month.
The consultation on the WEEE Directive came to a close on June 21 and the government continue to put together a response outlining its preferred proposals and any key issues raised from the consultation.
BIS is expected to comment on submitted responses to revised WEEE Regulations and changes to the UK system for WEEE collection, treatment, recovery, recycling and re-use.
To read more about lighting disposal you can visit the Dexreco website here: http://www.dexreco.co.uk/latest-news/government-expected-to-publish-resp...
The official Gov.UK documentation is here: https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/waste-electrical-and-electro...

Blog tags

WEEE Directive

Wed, 18 Sep 2013 23:00:00 +0000 gazza 520 at https://www.mylocalelectrician.uk The WEEE Directive and How Dexreco are Tackling This https://www.mylocalelectrician.uk/blogs/gazza/tue-23072013-0000/weee-directive-and-how-dexreco-are-tackling The WEEE Directive and How Dexreco are Tackling This

gazza Tue, 23/07/2013

The WEEE Directive, Waste Electronic and Electrical Equipment, is a piece of EU legislation which became European law in February 2003 and was introduced to UK law in 2007. The law makes both producers and importers of electronic goods responsible for the recycling of their products and covers the entire European Union. The WEEE Directive aims to reduce the amount of electronic waste (e-waste) from domestic and commercial sources which end up in landfill sites.
The WEEE Directive covers a total of ten categories. At Dexreco we specialise in the areas of luminaire and lighting removal quickly and efficiently via our established UK logistic Network.
Some examples of waste that comes under the scope of the WEEE Directive are:
IT and telecommunications equipment, such as PCs, laptops and printers.
Consumer equipment, such as televisions, radios, video recorders and DVD players.
Toys, sport and leisure equipment, such as games consoles and electric trains.
Small household appliances, such as toasters and vacuum cleaners.
Large household appliances, such as fridges, freezers and washing machines.
Not only do Dexreco welcome full responsibility for the recycling and safe disposal of end of life luminaires, but all Dextra Group subsidiary companies are committed to developing and manufacturing more energy efficient lighting solutions for the future.
