Certsure staff across Dunstable, Chesterfield and Mansfield took part in a two-year effort to support the UK’s leading dementia research charity. Skydives and Peruvian treks saw the biggest donation levels.

Certsure, the organisations that operates the NICEIC and ELECSA brands, has raised £26,000 for Alzheimer’s Research UK (ARUK). In September 2017, Certsure employees chose to partner with ARUK, Europe’s leading dementia research charity, as its official charity.

There are currently 850,000 people in the UK living with dementia and it is set to rise to one million people by 2025. It is only through vital research carried out by ARUK that finding a solution to the problem is possible.

Since the partnership began, employees have taken part in any charity and fundraising opportunities including charity auctions, sweepstakes, fantasy football competitions, bake sales, charity runs and more.

Some of the biggest donations have come from a charity skydive in 2018 which raised over £10,000 and a trek to Machu Picchu earlier this year, raising over £7,000. Katy Abraham-Hall, regional corporate partnership officer at ARUK said:

Kevan Parker is the new Managing Director of Certsure

Kevan Parker is the new Managing Director of Certsure

Kevan Parker has been appointed as the Managing Director of Certsure. Kevan has been with Certsure since 2016 when he joined the operations team as Director of Certification and Operations. He has been undertaking the interim Managing Director position since December following the departure of Emma Clancy.

Phil Buckle, Chair of the Certsure board commented: “During his time in charge Kevan has demonstrated both a passion for Certsure and a strong ability to lead the
Strategic Leadership Team. He has proven himself as a team player and has the skills to make a positive contribution to the future development of Certsure.”

Kevan said he is looking forward to the challenges ahead, adding: “I’m very excited about the future for Certsure. We plan to build on our technical excellence to provide
a service offering to our customers that is second to none. This, combined with working more closely with the Certsure LLP members, will see us go from strength to strength.”

Competency the key to safety! NICEIC and ELECSA welcome government response to Hackitt Report. Certsure, which operates the NICEIC and ELECSA brands, has welcomed Government’s intention to take forward Dame Hackitt’s recommendations for improvements in the building services sector.

Commentating on the recent government announcement, Certsure’s interim Managing Director, Kevan Parker said: “We welcome Government’s intention to take forward
Dame Hackitt’s recommendations.

“The Government has confirmed that competency, and the need for firms to take responsibility for competency at each level within their structure, is at the core of delivering improved safety.

“Certsure has always advocated that competency is a mix of knowledge gained through qualifications and training, skills and experience. This, in conjunction with third party assessment and certification, is vital to delivering ongoing levels of competency, within the building sector. It also provides a simple route for consumers to raise an issue if something goes wrong.

“Crucially, it is firms who work outside of these parameters where sanction is needed and we are encouraged by the Housing Secretary’s comments to take action against incompetent firms who fail to demonstrate the necessary levels of protection required.

Certsure will continue to work with colleagues across the sector to take forward the Government’s proposals to raise standards and drive cultural change in our industry.”

NICEIC & ELECSA raise £20,000 for Alzheimer’s Research UK

Certsure, which operates the NICEIC and ELECSA brands, has raised £20,000 for Alzheimer's Research UK (ARUK), smashing its two year target one year early. Last year, Certsure staff chose to partner with ARUK, Europe's leading dementia research charity, as its official charity. Certsure committed itself to raise £20,000 across two years, but through various fundraising efforts, the firm has smashed its target one year ahead of schedule.

There are currently 850,000 people in the UK living with the condition and is set to rise to one million people by 2025. It is only through vital research carried out by ARUK that finding a solution to the problem is possible.

Over the past year, Certsure employees have taken part in sweepstakes, charity auctions, dress down collections, charity auctions, bake sales and runs. One of the biggest donations came from a charity skydive which saw 22 Certsure staff parachute 10,000 feet from a plane and raised over £10,000 in the process.

Katy Abraham, Regional Corporate Partnerships Officer at ARUK said:

"It's been fantastic working with Certsure and I'm so impressed that they have already hit their fundraising target. The enthusiasm and support has been incredible as they have literally thrown themselves out of planes and into this partnership. Their efforts will make a real difference in our search for a cure to dementia."

Certsure will continue to work with ARUK and hold fundraising events throughout the year, raising even more money for the charity.

Certsure, which operates the NICEIC and ELECSA brands, has been named one of the nation’s Top 100 companies to work for the fifth year running. Certsure ranked 52nd in the Times Top 100 list, up an impressive 27 places on last year’s position of 79.
CEO Emma Clancy commented: “To deliver the best service possible to our customers we understand that our teams need to feel empowered, skilled and motivated.
“We have invested in staff training programmes and created an environment that gives our teams the platform to succeed.
“That is why this award is so important to us. It recognises that we are a people business and allows us to better serve our customers.
““It is good for the industry. This achievement demonstrates that our sector can not only lead in terms of delivering technical excellence but also in terms of management practices and we look forward to seeing more electrical contracting firms on the list next year.”
Certsure employs more than 300 people nationally including 120 staff at its headquarters in Dunstable. It also has offices in Mansfield and Chesterfield and a field team who carry out assessments throughout the UK. Last year Certsure staff raised more than £15 000 for MacMillan Cancer Support
