Ideal for larger homes and multiple occupancy units, such as care homes and student accommodation, the addition of the Sentinel Kinetic High Flow means Vent-Axia now offers a complete range of MVHR solutions from small apartments up to light commercial.
Manufactured in the UK the Sentinel Kinetic High Flow benefits from the latest high efficiency, backward curved impeller design and boasts a specific fan power as low as 0.65 W/l/s. These features ensure the lowest possible energy consumption and an exceptional performance range covering small one-bed apartments to the largest of houses.
Recognised in SAP PCDB, High Flow combines supply and extract ventilation in one unit. Warm, moist air is extracted from ‘wet’ rooms through ducting and passed through the heat exchanger before being exhausted outside, and fresh incoming air is preheated via the integral heat exchanger. Boasting up to 175l/s at 150Pa, the powerful High Flow is capable of extracting from up to fourteen bathrooms and a communal kitchen, for example in a student accommodation or care home setting, while still achieving almost 90% heat recovery. Meanwhile, the fully automatic capability of the Kinetic range means effective ventilation is always achieved.
Offering installation flexibility the High Flow features 180mm/200mm spigots that can be re-positioned to give horizontal connection or a combination of vertical and horizontal connection. The horizontal duct option is ideal for space-saving installations and a unique folding filter can be easily removed, even when access is restricted. Installation is further enhanced thanks to the integrated digital controller for simple and accurate commissioning.
Featuring multiple plug and play control options and BMS connectivity, the High Flow has sensor inputs allowing boosting from a full range of Vent-Axia controllers including humidistats, Vent-Wise and timers, as well as a wireless remote. Switched live is available for boosting via light switches and benefits from a ‘delay on’ feature which prevents the unit boosting unnecessarily and a ‘delay off’ timer that ensures effective moisture removal. Alternatively manual boost switches are available.
The unit’s BMS capability is ideal for those commercial applications where landlords or property managers want to monitor and optimise building performance and maintenance. The Kinetic BMS can provide status information and its self-diagnostics offer simplified fault finding.
To ensure year round thermal comfort in increasingly air tight properties, Vent Axia’s High Flow includes a programmable summer bypass which operates when a home’s temperature rises above a pre-set comfort temperature. Meanwhile, in winter the unit utilises frost protection to stop frost building up on the intake side of the heat exchanger and so preventing damage.
In addition, heat recovery ventilation reduces excessive moisture in the air, combating condensation and potential mould growth, saving money on maintenance and decoration in the long and short-term. Occupants are further aided through better indoor air quality which has the dual health benefits of reducing microscopic fungal growth and eliminating the conditions in which house dust mites thrive, both of which are linked to allergic reactions and asthma.
For further information on the Sentinel Kinetic High Flow, as well as other products and services offered by Vent-Axia, visit vent-axia.com or telephone 0844 856 0590.

News Categories

Vent Axia

Fri, 11 Mar 2016 00:00:00 +0000 gazza 7802 at https://www.mylocalelectrician.uk Vent-Axia Joins Dwelle’s Sustainable Micro Buildings at Grand Designs https://www.mylocalelectrician.uk/news/vent-axia-joins-dwelles-sustainable-micro-buildings-grand-designs Vent-Axia Joins Dwelle’s Sustainable Micro Buildings at Grand Designs

gazza Wed, 08/05/2013

Leading British fan manufacturer Vent-Axia is delighted to showcase its Sentinel Kinetic MVHR within a Dwelle Micro Building at Grand Designs Live (4-12 May 2013, Excel, London). This year, Dwelle, the Manchester-based architects are presenting a brand new range of micro buildings ‘dwelle.ing’, ‘little dwelle.ing’ and ‘mobile dwelle.ing’. To launch the range Dwelle’s stand will feature a scaled-down slice through one of their timber framed structures, showing all of the components that create a dwelle.ing, including Vent-Axia’s Sentinel Kinetic MVHR.
The micro buildings exhibit will run alongside the Grand Theatre, Kevin’s Man Made Home and George Clarke’s tree tent in the Grand Village at Grand Designs. This range of micro buildings came about when Dwelle investigated an alternative solution to create small dwellings that could easily be adapted to suit a wide variety of uses, partly due to the high cost and limited options available in British housing.
Dwelle has therefore created a range of carefully designed micro buildings that are highly sustainable, fast to erect and extremely adaptable. Its award winning "dwelle.ings" can achieve zero carbon status, potentially meet Passivhaus standards and if extended or doubled-up (which can be done at a later date), will meet Lifetime Homes Standards. The simplicity of the system will support different internal configurations and will allow it to be easily extended. It can be a small one bedroom home, a family home, a holiday home, an office, a classroom, a gym, or even a church.
Ric Frankland, director at Dwelle said: “We are excited to be showcasing our new range of micro buildings at Grand Designs. The micro buildings have been designed to be highly sustainable. As such we selected Vent-Axia’s Sentinel Kinetic MVHR for the buildings because of the system’s high efficiency, controllability and summer bypass – all essential in thermally efficient modern homes. A British made MVHR unit the system also has a reduced embodied energy.”
“At Vent-Axia we are delighted our Sentinel Kinetic features in Dwelle’s new range of micro buildings. With the current high cost and shortage of British housing the new range of ‘dwell.ing’ offers house buyers highly sustainable and affordable homes offering a blueprint for future house building.” said Jenny Smith, Marketing Services Manager at Vent-Axia.
Manufactured in the UK, the flexible Sentinel Kinetic is a whole house heat recovery system. This SAP Appendix Q range combines supply and extract ventilation in one unit. Warm, moist air is extracted from ‘wet’ rooms through ducting and passed through the heat exchanger before being exhausted outside. Fresh filtered incoming air is preheated via the integral heat exchanger which recovers up to 88% of the heat energy that would otherwise be wasted. The unit’s energy saving Vent-Axia Lo-Carbon EC DC fans further improve efficiency and carbon reductions.
In addition, heat recovery ventilation reduces excessive moisture in the air, combating condensation and subsequent mould growth, saving money on maintenance and decoration in the long and short-term. Home owners are further aided through better indoor air quality which has the duel health benefits of reducing microscopic fungal growth and eliminating the conditions in which house dust mites thrive, both of which are linked to allergic reactions and asthma.
Vent-Axia’s Sentinel Kinetic also features in Dwelle’s showroom building in Manchester. The showroom is open to the public on Fridays and Saturdays 10am to 2pm or by appointment. It is also a Centre for Carbon Literacy, offering a range of workshops. Scooping the industry award for its revolutionary Lo-Carbon Tempra single room heat recovery unit, the company received the accolade at an awards ceremony held at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London. Attended by over 500 of the Energy industry’s keys players the event was hosted by Comedian Hal Cruttenden.
The prestigious Energy Awards recognises and rewards both supply and demand-side excellence within the energy sector. The Awards acknowledge achievement in carbon reduction and energy efficiency, energy supply, and brokering as well as products and services. This year the awards boasted a record number of impressive entries and showcased the work of leading companies working hard to lower emissions. After a rigorous judging process, Vent-Axia won the award for Energy Efficient Product of the Year for its pioneering Lo-Carbon Tempra which offers the benefits of both continuous ventilation and heat recovery.

Vent-Axia’s revolutionary Tempra, part of the company’s innovative Lo-Carbon™ initiative, is a single room heat recovery unit which can be simply retrofitted through a 100mm diameter hole in the wall. This allows traditional inefficient extract fans to be easily replaced with this discreet, low energy, continuously running alternative that also offers affordable heat recovery.

Tim McManan-Smith, Editor of Water, Energy & Environment, commented on the awards: “The Energy Awards 2012 are where the energy industry recognises its undoubted achievements and provides inspiration to what can be obtained if we intelligently manage energy use. They are one small step towards communicating the truly great things that are going on the energy industry that can ultimately aid consumers in running their businesses.”

“We are delighted our pioneering Lo-Carbon Tempra has won Energy Efficient Product of the Year and are proud to have been acknowledged by the Energy Industry. The Government is keen to cut electrical demand by improving energy efficiency. Britain has the oldest housing stock in the developed World therefore offering significant opportunities to improve indoor air quality and building performance. Single room heat recovery makes heat recovery more accessible and affordable for existing homes and so offers huge potential carbon reductions,” said Lee Nurse, Marketing Director, Vent-Axia.

Providing up to 84% heat recovery, the Tempra is the only unit of its type which can be retrofitted through a 100mm diameter hole in the wall. This enables standard bathroom, kitchen, toilet or utility room fans to be easily changed for a Tempra without the need to make the hole any larger, saving substantially on installation time and cost.

Central to the Tempra’s compact footprint required to fit in a 100mm diameter hole is its double wheel motorised impellers. The innovative technology allows for just one motor to be used with an extended shaft to drive two impellers to achieve double flow requirements, resulting in a very energy efficient solution. The unit’s performance, taken together with Tempra’s integral Lo-Carbon™ DC motor, brings significant energy savings and will help reduce a home’s carbon footprint.

Discreet and quiet in operation, Tempra can be set to run continuously at 6 l/s or 9 l/s, boosting up to 13 l/s if required. For intermittent extract applications, the unit can be set to operate at 15 l/s. It also incorporates a manual summer setting to ensure that when it is warm outside, it operates on extract only. This eliminates the risk of the home overheating in hot summer weather, providing good comfort.

The Tempra is part of Vent-Axia’s Lo-Carbon™ collection. The aim of the Lo-Carbon initiative is to offer the latest low carbon ventilation technology in order to reduce building energy consumption and so carbon emissions.
